Carrollwood is just seven miles north of the City of Tampa and developed with a vision of creating housing to relieve crowding in South Tampa.  Carrollwood was originally named by early homesteaders that were friends and admirers of Charles Carroll, one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Native Americans Carrollwood “the land of lovely water.”

By 1960, Carrollwood had become one of the foremost award-winning subdivisions in Florida that featured air conditioning.  How anyone lived in Florida without AC is amazing, but it was just one of the reasons people began to move there.

Planned schools, neighborhood parks, lake access for all residents and on-call handy man and repair services were the early selling features of the neighborhood.  The winding roads, many cul-de-sacs and lake views added even more charm to the young community.

The development of the University of South Florida transformed Carrollwood as it was discovered by the academia, and the newly built University is located less than ten miles due east.  Carrollwood has a large population of highly educated professionals and has been considered by many locals to Tampa as the best place to live in Tampa.

Centrally located, Carrollwood can be described by locals as Original Carrollwood or New Carrollwood.  The “Original” section began in the early 1950’s.  Homes built during this period can be noted by the large lots and post war architecture.  Carrollwood is split by Dale Mabry and the “New” section can be noted by its newer Florida style houses.

Both areas of Carrollwood are connected by the winding roads and many cul-de-sacs and lake views that add so much charm while driving under the mature oaks. Carrollwood has fine dining, excellent schools and wonderful people.  Featured amenities of access to exclusive Lake Carroll is a reason for many to move to the original section.

Lake Carroll is a private lake that is always bustling with boaters but is so large you hardly notice.  Residents of original Carrollwood have access to White Sands Beach, a private sand beach with a beautiful modern dock for homeowners to use at their leisure.  They have the best New Years and Independence Day firework displays, too.

New Carrollwood residents have private access to basketball, tennis and racquetball located throughout the community, but the newest addition to new Carrollwood is the Hillsborough County Park, Carrollwood Village Park.

Carrollwood Village Park is was a piece of surplus land that was managed for wastewater and has turned into a passive community park.  The project has been produced in phases and involves everything from paving roadways, building renovations and the construction of park amenities.

Walking and jogging trails, the playground and dog park have transformed this already great community into a destination.  Revitalization of the Carrollwood Country Club has also rejuvenated the area.

Carrollwood Country club is one of Tampa’s premier private country clubs and features a 27-hole course, stadium lighted tennis courts, a junior Olympic swimming pool and condo resort that is perfect if you’re looking for someplace for your out of town guests to stay if the house is full.

Carrollwood is a beautiful community.
